Growth

A photograph made of a painting I did in June, for a poetry anthology called Perspectives. The anthology is a gathering of poems about autism and other disabilities. I submitted three poems and some sample artwork to be considered for cover art. All three of my poems were accepted, and I was asked whether I had more art in the swirly painting, because the editors really liked it.

So, the day before my 25th birthday, I rushed down to my local art store and purchased two canvas. I spent my birthday and the week of my birthday painting this and another painting.

This painting is Growth, and expresses the growth that comes from interacting with one another. While we do retain the same elements throughout life, we never really stay completely the same, and experience an ongoing learning and growth. So in a way, we are never completely done growing up.
